35 Books Boys Will LOVE!
When I was a middle school English teacher, I realized that getting some boys to read was like pushing a gigantic bolder uphill. I could do it, but I’d be tired and worn out in the end. Then it hit me, boys—like everybody else—will read books as long as they’re interesting and relatable. Duh!
Is Rap Music Bad for Brown Boys?
At the risk of sounding like the old woman yelling, “Get off my lawn!” I think it’s time we get all the way real about mainstream rap music and our boys.
It’s Time to Change the Story About Brown Boys
Listen, those of us who raise, love, care about, and pray for boys of color understand what they’re up against. We understand that there are police officers who might stop them for no reason, shopkeepers who may follow them around, and overzealous neighborhood watch captains who may question whether or not they belong based on nothing but the color of their skin.
